Who we are
Cashio is a trading name of The National Online Property Platform Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17493430). Our registered office is at Apartment 22 Sir Robert Peel Court, 285 Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, England, B90 3FU. We are the “controller” of your personal data, which means we decide how and why it is used. We handle it in line with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. If you have any questions about this notice or how we use your information, email privacy@cashio.co.uk.
What we collect
We collect the information we need to make you an offer and buy your property. That includes your name, address, email address and phone number. It also covers details about the property, such as its type, size and condition, any photos or videos you share, and any tenancy. We’ll ask why and how quickly you want to sell, and about any mortgage or secured loans on the property. For legal checks, we collect identity documents such as a passport, driving licence and proof of address. We keep a record of the emails and messages we exchange with you. When you use our website, we automatically collect technical information, including your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you visit. We may also receive information from HM Land Registry and other public records, identity verification and anti-fraud agencies, and the surveyors and solicitors involved in your sale.
How we use it and why
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare your offer, arrange surveys and legal work, and complete the purchase of your property. We do this either because you have asked us to take these steps before entering a contract, or to perform our contract with you. We also use it to carry out identity, anti-money laundering, sanctions and fraud checks, because the law requires these. In addition, we use it to handle complaints, keep our records accurate, and run, secure and improve our website, which we do on the basis of our legitimate interests. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced them against your rights and freedoms. We will only send you marketing emails or texts if you have agreed to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time without affecting any offer we make you. We never use your information to make decisions about you by automated means alone. A member of our team always reviews your property before we make a formal offer.
Who we share it with
We only share your information when it’s needed to make you an offer or complete your sale, and we require everyone we share it with to keep it secure. Depending on your sale, we may share it with:
- your solicitor or conveyancer, and ours
- independent RICS surveyors and valuers
- identity verification and anti-fraud agencies
- the companies that fund our purchases
- our professional advisers, such as accountants and insurers
- service providers who help us run our business, including IT, hosting, CRM and email services
We will also share information with HMRC, the police, regulators or other authorities when the law requires it. If our business is sold or restructured, we may share it with the buyer. We never sell your personal data. We don’t share it with other companies for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We only keep your information for as long as we need it. If your enquiry does not lead to a sale, we keep your details for up to 2 years from the last time you contacted us. If we buy your property, we keep the records of the purchase for 6 years after completion, for tax and legal reasons. By law, we must keep identity and anti-money laundering records for 5 years after our relationship with you ends. We keep your marketing preferences until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent. Sometimes we need information for longer, for example to deal with a complaint, a legal claim or a fraud investigation, and we will keep it until that matter is resolved. When we no longer need your information, we delete it securely or make it anonymous.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- see a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your data
- ask us to restrict how we use it
- object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests
- object to any direct marketing
- ask us to transfer data you gave us to another organisation
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
Using these rights is free. To make a request, email privacy@cashio.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will reply within one month, or tell you if a complex request needs more time. Some rights don’t apply in every situation. For example, the law may require us to keep anti-money laundering records even if you ask us to delete them.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
